THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Regulation (EU) 2016/1952 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 concerning European statistics on natural gas and electricity prices and repealing Directive 2008/92/EC (1), and in particular Article 5(2) thereof

Whereas:

(1) Regulation (EU) 2016/1952 establishes the common framework for producing comparable European statistics on natural gas and electricity prices for household and final non-household customers in the Union.

(2) In accordance with Article 5(2) of Regulation (EU) 2016/1952 Member States should transmit the statistical data in electronic form, in order to conform to an appropriate technical format to be laid down by the Commission.

(3) The Statistical Data and Metadata exchange (SDMX) provides statistical and technical standards for the exchange of official statistics. A technical format in accordance with these standards should therefore be established by the Commission (Eurostat) within the European Statistical System in close cooperation with Member States.

(4) The measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the European Statistical System Committee,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

The data on natural gas and electricity prices for household and final non-household customers in the Union shall be provided to Eurostat through the single entry point to enable the Commission (Eurostat) to retrieve those data by electronic means.

Article 2

The structure used for transmitting data to the Commission (Eurostat) is set out in the Annexes.

Article 3

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
