Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/516 of 10 March 2026 correcting Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1403 as regards thujones concentration in Spanish sage essential oil

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,

Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,

Having regard to Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2003 on additives for use in animal nutrition (1), and in particular Article 9(2) thereof,

Whereas:

(1) The substance Spanish sage essential oil from Salvia officinalis ssp. Lavandulifolia (Vahl) Gams was authorised as a feed additive for all animal species by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1403 (2) for 10 years.

(2) In the Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1403, the concentration of thujones in Spanish sage essential oil is erroneously referred to with a value of ‘0,001 %’, while according to the scientific opinion of the European Food Safety Authority of 17 September 2024 (3), the concentration of thujones in Spanish sage essential oil were not detected by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (limit of detection (LOD) 0,001 %).

(3) Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1403 should therefore be corrected accordingly.

(4) The measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed,

HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

Correction to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1403

In the Annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1403, in the entry for the feed additive 2b413-eo Spanish sage essential oil, in the third column ‘Composition, chemical formula, description, analytical method’, under the heading ‘Specifications:’, the indent ‘— Thujones: 0,001 %’ is replaced by ‘— Thujones: ≤ 0,001 %’.

Article 2

Entry into force

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
