1 Increase of rates of old age pensions.

1.—As from the 29th day of July, 1955, the rates of 21s. 6d., 16s. 6d., 11s., 6d., and 6s. 6d., set forth in the Table to subsection (2) of section 77 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952), shall each be increased by 2s. 6d.

2 Increase of rates of windows' (non-contributory) pensions.

2.—(1) In Table B to section 20 of the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Act, 1935 (No. 29 of 1935), being the section inserted by section 105 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952), for the rates set forth therein there shall be substituted the rates set forth in the Table to this subsection.

(2) Subsection (1) of this section shall come into operation on the 29th day of July, 1955.

3 Short title and collective citations.

3.—(1) This Act shall be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1955.

(2) The Old Age Pensions Acts, 1908 to 1952 and section 1 of this Act may be cited together as the Old Age Pensions Acts, 1908 to 1955.

(3) The Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Acts, 1935 to 1952, and section 2 of this Act may be cited together as the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Acts, 1935 to 1955.
