S.I. No. 67 of 1981.

WINTER TIME ORDER, 1981.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 of the Standard Time (Amendment) Act, 1971 (No. 17 of 1971), hereby make the following order:

1.

1.

This Order may be cited as the Winter Time Order, 1981.

2.

2.

For the years 1981 and 1982—

( a ) the period of winter time which, apart from this Article, would end on the 22nd day of March, 1981, is hereby varied so as to end at one o'clock Greenwich mean time in the morning of the 29th day of March, 1981;

( b ) the period of winter time which, apart from this Article, would begin at two o'clock Greenwich mean time in the morning of the 25th day of October, 1981, is hereby varied so as to begin at one o'clock Greenwich mean time in that morning and end at one o'clock Greenwich mean time in the morning of the 28th day of March, 1982; and

( c ) the period of winter time which, apart from this Article, would begin at two o'clock Greenwich mean time in the morning of the 24th day of October, 1982, is hereby varied so as to begin at one o'clock Greenwich mean time in that morning.

GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 3rd day of March, 1981.

GERARD COLLINS.

Minister for Justice.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order varies the periods of winter time, and consequently summer time, for the years 1981 and 1982. The effect of the Order will be that standard (summer) time will begin one week later in 1981 and 1982 than under the present law. A minor effect of the Order will be that the time of change from summer time to winter time and vice-versa will be 1 a.m. in the morning (G.M.T.) rather than 2. a.m.

This Order gives effect to an E.E.C. Directive harmonising the starting date for summer time in E.E.C. Member States.
