GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAYS COMPANY (IRELAND) PENSION FUND FOR WAGES STAFF (AMENDMENT) SCHEME (CONFIRMATION) ORDER, 1982.
I, JOHN P. WILSON, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 44 (6) of the Transport Act, 1950 (No. 12 of 1950), as applied by section 15 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1958 (No. 20 of 1958), and adapted by the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), and the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1980 ), hereby, after consultation with the Minister for the Public Service, order as follows:—

This Order may be cited as the Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland) Pension Fund for Wages Staff (Amendment) Scheme (Confirmation) Order, 1982.

In this Order "the amending Scheme" means the scheme amending the Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland) Pension Fund for Wages Staff prepared by the Board and submitted to the Minister under section 15 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1958 (No. 20 of 1958) and set out in the Schedule to this Order.

The amending scheme is hereby confirmed and shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 6th day of April, 1980.
SCHEDULE
GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY (IRELAND) PENSION FUND FOR WAGES STAFF (AMENDMENT) SCHEME, 1982.
Definitions:
In this amending Scheme "the existing Scheme" means the Pension Fund for Wages Staff mentioned in the Schedule to the Agreement scheduled to the Great Northern Railway Act, 1958 (No. 20 of 1958) as amended by amendment schemes confirmed by Statutory Instruments numbered 53 of 1962, 50 of 1965, 9 of 1967, 60 of 1969, 81 of 1971, 251 of 1974, 291 of 1977 and 76 of 1980.
The term "operative date" means the date prescribed by the Order confirming this amending Scheme as the date upon which this amending Scheme is to come into operation.
Amendment of the existing Scheme:
The existing Scheme shall be amended with effect on and from the operative date in the following manner:—
- (i) Sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (1) of Article 8 of the Amendment Scheme set out in Schedule to S.I. No. 53 of 1962 shall be deleted.
- (ii) The words "and subject to the deduction of tax at the appropriate rate under Section 21 of the Finance Act, 1972 " shall be added after the words "of this Article" in paragraph (1) of Article 11 of the Amendment Scheme set out in the Schedule to S.I. No. 53 of 1962 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
The purpose of the amending Scheme is to bring certain provisions of the existing scheme into line with the requirements of the Finance Act, 1972 in connection with the obtaining of approval by the Revenue Commissioners.
