I, John O'Donoghue, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 40 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988 (No. 16 of 1988), as adapted by the Justice (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1997 ) hereby make the following regulations:

This age card has been issued by the Garda Síochána [or with the agreement of the Garda Síochána] in accordance with Regulations made by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform under section 40 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988 , in order to confirm that the person to whom it has been issued has attained the legal age for the purchase of intoxicating liquor.
