Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in
“Iris Oifigiúil” of 3rd March, 2020.
I, Michael Creed, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/990 of 17 June 20191 , hereby make the following regulations:

These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Marketing of Vegetable Propagating and Plant Material, other than Seed) (Amendment) Regulations 2020.

The European Communities (Vegetable Seeds) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 ( S.I. No. 152 of 2014 ) are amended in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of “Directive”, the following –
“‘Directive’ means Council Directive No. 2008/72/EC of 15^th July 20082 as amended by Commission Implementing Decision 2013/166/EU of 2 April 20133 , Commission Implementing Directive 2013/45/EU of 7^th August 20134 and Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/990 of 17 June 2019.”;

These Regulations give effect to the provisions of Commission Implementing Directive (EU) 2019/990 as they apply to Council Directive 2008/72/EC on the marketing of vegetable propagating and planting material, other than seed by updating the listing of scientific name of the species contained in Annex I and Annex II.
