The Social Security (1990 Order) (Commencement No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991

Made: 22nd March 1991

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(3) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1990[^f00001] and paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974[^f00002] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:

Citation and interpretation

• (1) This order may be cited as the Social Security (1990 Order) (Commencement No. 3) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991.

• (2) In this order any reference to a numbered Article or Schedule is to the Article of or, as the case may be, the Schedule to, the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1990 bearing that number.

Appointed days

The day appointed for the coming into operation of—

• (a) Article 6 (computation of additional pension for purposes of invalidity pension, etc.), is 6th April 1991;

• (b) paragraph 9 of Schedule 6 (tax years) and Article 22(1) (minor and consequential amendments) in so far as it relates to it, is 6th April 1991;

• (c) paragraph 9 of Schedule 4 (the insurance companies which may take transfer values) and Article 16(1) (miscellaneous amendments relating to pensions) in so far as it relates to it, for the purpose of authorising the making of regulations which are expressed to come into operation on or after 4th November 1991, is 13th May 1991;

• (d) paragraph 9 of Schedule 4 in so far as it is not already in operation and Article 16(1) in so far as it relates to it, is 4th November 1991.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This order provides for the coming into operation of provisions of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1990 on the following dates—

• 6th April 1991 for—

• Article 6 relating to the computation of additional pension for purposes of invalidity pension, etc.,

• paragraph 9 of Schedule 6 relating to the definition of tax years;

• 13th May 1991 for paragraph 9 of Schedule 4 relating to insurance companies which may take transfer values for the purpose of authorising the making of regulations which are expressed to come into operation on or after 4th November 1991;

• 4th November 1991 for paragraph 9 of Schedule 4 in so far as not brought into operation on 13th May 1991.
