The Statutory Sick Pay (1991 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(4) of the Statutory Sick Pay (Northern Ireland) Order 1991[^f00001] and paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974[^f00002] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:

Citation and interpretation

• (1) This order may be cited as the Statutory Sick Pay (1991 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 1991.

• (2) In this order “the Order” means the Statutory Sick Pay (Northern Ireland) Order 1991, and any reference to a numbered Article or the Schedule is to the Article bearing that number in, or the Schedule to, the Order.

Appointed days

The day appointed for the coming into operation of—

• (a) Article 4 (small employers' relief) for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations which are expressed to come into operation on 6th April 1991, is 29th March 1991;

• (b) Article 3 (reduction in the amounts recoverable by employers who have paid statutory sick pay), Article 4, in so far as it is not already in operation, and Article 5(2) and the Schedule (repeals), is 6th April 1991.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This order provides for the coming into operation of provisions of the Statutory Sick Pay (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 on the following dates—

• 29th March 1991 for the provisions in Article 4, relating to small employers' relief, for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations expressed to come into operation on 6th April 1991;

• 6th April 1991 for the provisions in—

• Article 3 relating to reduction in the amounts recoverable by employers who have paid statutory sick pay,

• Article 4, relating to small employers' relief, in so far as it is not already in operation,

• Article 5(2) and the Schedule relating to repeals.

The remaining provisions of that Order came into operation on 27th March 1991.
