The Belfast Harbour (Variation of Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 1993

Coming into operation: 7th June 1993

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(1) of the Harbours Act (Northern Ireland) 1970[^f00001] and now vested in it[^f00002], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and after consultation with the Belfast Harbour Commissioners, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Belfast Harbour (Variation of Limits) Order (Northern Ireland) 1993 and shall come into operation on 7th June 1993.

Acts amended

In the Belfast Harbour Acts 1847 to 1967[^f00003] for any reference to the seaward extremity of the Queen Elizabeth bridge across the River Lagan in connection with the limits of the Port and Harbour of Belfast or of the jurisdiction of the Belfast Harbour Commissioners there shall be substituted a reference to the seaward extremity of the weir downstream of the Queen Elizabeth bridge.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order amends the Belfast Harbour Acts 1847 to 1967 so as to reduce the limits of jurisdiction of the Belfast Harbour Commissioners in respect of the Port and Harbour of Belfast (which prior to the operative date of this Order extended to the seaward extremity of the Queen Elizabeth bridge).

The limits are reduced to the seaward extremity of the weir downstream of the Queen Elizabeth bridge.
