Made: 2nd January 1996

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the power conferred on it by section 70(3) of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation

This Order may be cited as the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.

Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into operation of sections 50, 51 and 52 of[^f00002], and Schedule 5 to[^f00003] the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 is 2nd January 1996.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order appoints 2nd January 1996 as the day for the coming into operation of sections 50, 51 and 52 of, and Schedule 5 to, as modified by Schedule 8 to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 which deal with the establishment and functions of the Northern Ireland Disability Council.
