Health and Personal Social Services (Amendment) (1995 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1995[^f00001], paragraph 2(1) of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974[^f00002] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:

This order may be cited as the Health and Personal Social Services (Amendment) (1995 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996.
Appointed day
2
The day appointed for the coming into operation of Articles 3 and 4 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 for all remaining purposes shall be 29th March 1996.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This order brings into operation on 29th March 1996 all the remaining provisions of the Health and Personal Social Services (Amendment) (Northern Ireland) Order 1995, which amends the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972 (“the 1972 Order”) so far as they are not already in operation.
The provisions brought into operation relate to powers of the Tribunal in relation to opticians, ophthalmic medical practitioners and pharmacists—
- (a) to direct the interim suspension of practitioners providing family health services under the 1972 Order, and
- (b) to declare when disqualifying them from inclusion in any list of such practitioners kept in Northern Ireland, that they are not fit to be engaged in any capacity in the provision of those services.
