Housing Renovation etc. Grants (Grant Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996

Coming into operation: 13th May 1996

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 54(5) of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1992[^f00001] and 54(5) of that Order as applied by Regulations[^f00002] made under Article 73 of that Order and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Housing Renovation etc. Grants (Grant Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 13th May 1996.

• (2) In this Order “the 1992 Order” means the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1992.

Grant Limit

The maximum amount of grant which the Executive may pay in respect of an application for—

• (a) renovation grant, disabled facilities grant and common parts grant specified in Article 39(2)(a)(b) and (c) of the 1992 Order is £20,000; and

• (b) HMO grant specified in Article 39(2)(d) of the 1992 Order and replacement grant specified in Article 73 of the 1992 Order is £30,000.

Application

This Order shall not have effect in relation to an application for a grant made before this Order comes into force.

Revocation

The Housing Renovation etc. Grants (Grant Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1993[^f00003] is hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides new maximum limits on the amount of grant which the Northern Ireland Housing Executive may pay as follows—

1 In respect of an application for renovation grant, disabled facilities grant and common parts grant specified in Article 39(2)(a)(b)(c) of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 the amount of the grant is reduced from £50,000 to £20,000; and

2 In respect of an application for the HMO grant specified in the said Article 39(2)(d) and an application for replacement grant under Article 73 of that Order the Amount of the grant which the Executive may pay is reduced from £50,000 to £30,000. Regulation 4 revokes the Housing Renovation etc. Grants (Grant Limit) Order (Northern Ireland) 1993.
