Coming into operation: 10th June 1996

NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 21(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Urban Clearways (Belfast) (No. 2) Order (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 10th June 1996.

Amendment

The Schedule to the Urban Clearways (Belfast) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1981[^f00002] shall be amended by—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order further amends the Urban Clearways (Belfast) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1981 by—

1 introducing the prohibition of waiting by vehicles in Belfast from Monday to Friday inclusive— a during the morning and evening peak traffic periods on both sides of the west carriageway of Donegall Quay; b during the morning peak traffic period on the west side of Great Victoria Street (between Hope Street and Fisherwick Place) and on the north side of Springfield Road (between Norglen Parade and Mountcashel Street); and c during the evening peak traffic period on the east side of Boucher Road and on the south side of Springfield Road (between Mountcashel Street and Norglen Parade);

2 re-introducing the waiting by vehicles in Belfast from Monday to Friday inclusive— a during the morning and evening peak traffic periods on both sides of Annadale Embankment (between Elgin Street and King’s Bridge) and on both sides of Ravenhill Road (between its western junction with Albertbridge Road and a point approximately 100 metres south of that junction); b during the morning peak traffic period on the south side of Andersonstown Road and on the north side of Belmont Road (between Ranfurly Drive and Wandsworth Drive); and c during the evening peak traffic period on the north side of Andersonstown Road and on the south side of Belmont Road (between Wandsworth Road and Dundela Avenue). Any person who acts in contravention of the Order shall be guilty of an offence under the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000). Traffic signs indicating the effect of the Order will in due course be erected on the roads.
