Coming into operation: 1st February 1997

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 3(2) and (5) of the Laganside Development (Northern Ireland) Order 1989[^f00001], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:

Citation and commencement

This order may be cited as the Laganside Development (Alteration of Designated Area) Order (Northern Ireland) 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st February 1997.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

The Laganside Development Designation Order (Northern Ireland) 1989 designated an area of about 350 acres (141.5 hectares) lying within the City of Belfast for the purpose of its regeneration by the Laganside Corporation which is established under Article 4(1) of the Laganside Development (Northern Ireland) Order 1989. A further 40 acres (16 hectares) approximately was designated under the Laganside Development (Alteration of Designated Area) Order (Northern Ireland) 1995.

This order alters the designated area by adding 5 separate areas totalling approximately 45.5 hectares contiguous to the existing area.
