New Aghalane Bridge Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

Coming into operation: 1st July 1997

NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 4(1) and (2) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the New Aghalane Bridge Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1997.

• (2) In this Order “the map” means the drawing numbered G1243 marked “New Aghalane Bridge Order (Northern Ireland) 1997” copies of which have been deposited at the Department’s Roads Service offices, Headquarters, Room 231, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast; Omagh Division, Tyrone and Fermanagh Building, 1 Donaghanie Road, Omagh and Castle Barracks, Wellington Place, Enniskillen; and at the offices of Fermanagh District Council, Town Hall, Enniskillen.

Construction of bridge

The Department shall construct the bridge in the position and with the minimum dimensions both specified in the Schedule as part of the A509 Belturbet Road, Derrylin.

SCHEDULE

Position

The centre line of the bridge shall extend from a point on the north bank of the Woodford River approximately 210 metres west of the former Aghalane Bridge (Ordnance Survey map co-ordinates 234145 and 319407) to a point on the south bank approximately 225 metres west of the former Aghalane Bridge (Ordnance Survey map co-ordinates 234155 and 319390) in the townlands of Aghalane, County of Fermanagh and Lagan, County of Cavan, more particularly delineated and coloured red on the map.

Minimum dimensions

Minimum span — 22 metres clear between the abutments.

Minimum headway — 5.5 metres above the summer navigation level of 43.07 metres (above ordnance datum) Malin Head over a minimum width of 3 metres.

Minimum waterway — 18 metres.

Explanatory note

This Order provides for the construction of a bridge to carry a new road over the navigable waters of the Woodford River approximately 210 metres west of the former Aghalane Bridge (Ordnance Survey map co-ordinates 234145 and 319407) to a point approximately 225 metres west of the former Aghalane Bridge (Ordnance Survey map co-ordinates 234155 and 319390 in the townlands of Aghalane, County of Fermanagh and Lagan, County of Cavan.

The proposed bridge is delineated on the map marked G1243 copies of which have been deposited for inspection at the Department’s Roads Service offices, Headquarters, Room 231, Clarence Court, 10-18 Adelaide Street, Belfast; Omagh Division, Tyrone and Fermanagh Building, 1 Donaghanie Road, Omagh and Castle Barracks, Wellington Place, Enniskillen; and at the offices of Fermanagh District Council, Town Hall, Enniskillen.
