Plant Health (Amendment No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

Made: 29th August 1997

Coming into operation: 6th October 1997

The Department of Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 2[^f00001], 3(1)[^f00002], 3A[^f00003], 3B(1)[^f00004] and 4(1)[^f00005] of the Plant Health Act (Northern Ireland) 1967[^f00006] and of all powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Plant Health (Amendment No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 6th October 1997.

Amendment of the Plant Health Order (Northern Ireland) 1993

The Plant Health Order (Northern Ireland) 1993[^f00007] shall be amended in accordance with Articles 3 and 4.

In Schedule 3, Part A, item 7, there shall be inserted in the second column after the words “third countries other than:” the word “Algeria”.

In Schedule 14[^f00008] at the end there shall be added the following—

• Commission Directive 97/14/EC

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order further amends the Plant Health Order (Northern Ireland) 1993. The Order implements as respects Northern Ireland Commission Directive 97/14/EC removing the prohibition on the import of ware potatoes from Algeria into the Community (O.J. No. L.87, 02.04.97, p. 17).
