The Social Security Administration (Fraud) (1997 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

Made: 8th October 1997

The Department of Health and Social Services, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 1(2) of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (1997 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997.

• (2) In this Order “the Order” means the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997.

Appointed days

The day appointed for the coming into operation of—

• (a) Article 10 of the Order (information from landlords and agents), is 8th October 1997;

• (b) Article 15 of the Order (recovery of overpaid housing benefit)—

• (i) for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, is 8th October 1997, and

• (ii) for all other purposes, is 3rd November 1997.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides for the coming into operation of Article 10 of the Social Security Administration (Fraud) (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 (which concerns the obtaining of information from landlords and agents) on 8th October 1997. It also provides for the coming into operation of Article 15 of that Order (which concerns recovery of overpaid housing benefit) for the purposes of making regulations on 8th October 1997 and for all other purposes on 3rd November 1997.
