The Department for Social Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 68(2)(a) of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

The day appointed for the coming into operation of—

Amendment of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security (2000 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order

In Article 2(e) of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security (2000 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000[^f00002] (appointed days) and in the heading to Part IV of the Schedule to that Order for “orders” there shall be substituted “an order appointing the first or second appointed year”[^f00003].

Part I — Provisions coming into operation on 1st December 2000

The following repeals in Part III(3) of Schedule 9 and section 67 in so far as it relates to them— the Pension Schemes (Northern Ireland) Act 1993[^f00004]— in section 142— in subsection (1)(c), the words “which arises” and the words from “and which” to “beneficiary, and”; in subsection (1)(d), the words “which arises”; and subsection (3A) Repeals

Part II — Provisions coming into operation on 1st January 2001

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order provides for the coming into operation of provisions of the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000 as follows—

Article 3 makes a minor amendment to the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security (2000 Act) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2000 regarding the purpose for which provisions relating to state second pension are brought into operation.

The impact on business of the commencement of provisions in the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000 is detailed in the Regulatory Impact Assessment relating to the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Bill. A copy of that Assessment may be obtained, free of charge, from Social Security Policy and Legislation Division, Castle Buildings, Stormont, Belfast BT4 3SQ.
