Coming into operation: 14th May 2001

The Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission, in exercise of its powers under section 13(1) (amended by section 34(3) of the British-Irish Agreement Act 1999[^f00001]) and section 28(2) and (4) of the Foyle Fisheries Act 1952[^f00001] which stand transferred to it under section 34(1) of the British-Irish Agreement Act 1999, and in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 13(1) and 27(2) and (4) of the Foyle Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1952[^f00002] and now vested in it[^f00003] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, with the approval of the North/South Ministerial Council, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Foyle Area and Carlingford Area (Close Seasons for Angling) Regulations 2001 and shall come into operation on 14th May 2001.

Close Seasons for angling

The annual close seasons for angling for salmon and trout in the waters of the Foyle Area and the Carlingford Area are prescribed in the Schedule to these Regulations.

Revocation

The Foyle Area (Close Seasons for Angling) Regulations 1987[^f00004] are hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE — CLOSE SEASONS

Description of Waters Close Season
All rivers in the Foyle Area other than the River Foyle and the River Finn. 21st October to 31st March next following both dates inclusive.
River Foyle and River Finn including the loughs and tributaries of the River Finn. 16th September to the last day of February next following both dates inclusive.
All loughs in the Foyle Area other than the loughs of the River Finn system, Lough Foyle and Binevenagh Dam. 21st October to the last day of February next following both dates inclusive.
Binevenagh Dam. 1st January to 31st January next following both dates inclusive.
Lough Foyle. 16th September to the last day of February next following both dates inclusive.
All rivers in the Carlingford Area. 1st November to the last day of February next following both dates inclusive.
All loughs in the Carlingford Area. 1st November to the last day of February next following both dates inclusive.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations, which replace the Foyle Area (Close Seasons for Angling) Regulations 1987, specify the close seasons for angling for salmon and trout in the waters of the Foyle and Carlingford Areas.
