Coming into operation: 3rd September 2001

The Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 26(1) and 37(1) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966[^f00001] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, with the approval of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure[^f00002], hereby makes the following Byelaws:

Citation and commencement

These Byelaws may be cited as the Fisheries (Tagging and Logbook) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 3rd September 2001.

Interpretation

In these Byelaws—

Tagging of wild salmon and sea trout

and which, in each case, meets the requirements set out in paragraph (5).

Issue of gill tags to holders of fishing licences

Prohibitions

Issue and return of logbooks

The Board or an authorised agent shall issue—

Authorised agents

at such place and reasonable time as may be specified in the notice and the authorised agent shall comply with any such notice.

Dealers

Transitional provision

Byelaw 5(1)(c) and (d) shall not apply to any person other than a dealer in respect of any wild salmon or sea trout which has been lawfully captured and retained before the coming into operation of these Byelaws.
