Coming into operation: 1st October 2002

The Department for Employment and Learning[^f00001], in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 21 of the Employment Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1999[^f00002] and now vested in it[^f00003] and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulation: –

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2002.

Amendment of the Regulations

(3) For the purposes of paragraphs (1), (2) and (4), the following shall be regarded as being employed under different types of contract – (a) employees employed under a contract that is not a contract of apprenticeship; (b) employees employed under a contract of apprenticeship; (c) workers who are not employees; (d) any other description of worker that it is reasonable for the employer to treat differently from other workers on the ground that workers of that description have a different type of contract.
