Coming into operation: 30th April 2003

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 61(1), 66(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[^f00001], and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Amendments to regulation 6 (inspection of vehicle and grant of licence)

  • ; or in the case of a vehicle to which the Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003[^f00003] apply wheelchair restraining devices are not installed in the vehicle at the time it is submitted for examination.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations further amend the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985 (“the 1985 Regulations”).

Regulation 6 of the 1985 Regulations relates to requirements for vehicles submitted for testing. These Regulations amend the said regulation 6 to enable a vehicle examiner to refuse to carry out an examination of a public service vehicle to which the Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 apply, if wheelchair restraining devices are not installed in the vehicle at the time it is submitted for examination.
