Coming into operation: 1st April 2004

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety[^f00001], in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 57D and 106(b) of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972[^f00002], and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Health and Personal Social Services (General Medical Services Contracts) (Prescription of Drugs Etc) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2004.

Drugs, medicines and other substances that may not be ordered

A drug, medicine and other substance listed in Schedule 1 may not be ordered for a patient in the provision of medical services under a general medical services contract.

Drugs, medicines and other substances that may be ordered only in certain circumstances

A drug, medicine or other substance specified in an entry in column 1 of Schedule 2 may not be ordered for a patient in the provision of medical services under a general medical services contract unless –

SCHEDULE 1 — DRUGS, MEDICINES AND OTHER SUBSTANCES NOT TO BE ORDERED UNDER A GENERAL MEDICAL SERVICES CONTRACT
