The Department for Social Development makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(2) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998[^f00001] and now vested in it[^f00002].
Citation

This Order may be cited as the Social Security (1998 Order) (Commencement No. 13) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006.
Appointed day

The day appointed for the coming into operation of Article 63 of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 (daily rate of maternity allowance) is 1st October 2006 in respect of women whose expected week of confinement begins on or after 1st April 2007 and for the purpose of this Article “expected week of confinement” shall be construed in accordance with section 35 of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992[^f00003].

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order provides for the coming into operation of Article 63 of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 on 1st October 2006 in respect of women whose expected week of confinement falls on or after 1st April 2007. This is the last remaining provision of that Order to be commenced.
