Fair Employment (Specification of Public Authorities) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006

The Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister[^f00001], in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 50 and 51 of the Fair Employment and Treatment (Northern Ireland) Order 1998[^f00002], and now vested in it[^f00003] makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Fair Employment (Specification of Public Authorities) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2007.

For the Schedule to the Fair Employment (Specification of Public Authorities) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004[^f00004] substitute the Schedule to this Order.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends the Fair Employment (Specification of Public Authorities) Order (Northern Ireland) 2004 (“the 2004 Order”) which specifies a number of persons or bodies as public authorities for certain purposes under Part VII of the Fair Employment and Treatment (Northern Ireland) Order 1998 (“the 1998 Order”) and provides for the persons who are to be treated for such purposes as the employees of some of those authorities.

The Schedule to the 2004 Order lists in Part I the bodies who are public authorities for the purposes of Articles 52 to 65 of the 1998 Order and in Part II the bodies who are public authorities for the purposes of Articles 62 to 65 of the 1998 Order.

Article 2 of this Order substitutes a new Schedule to the 2004 Order.

The following amendments have been made to the Schedule:

• Part I The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute replaces the Agricultural Research Institute of Northern Ireland The Big Lottery Fund replaces the National Lotteries Charities Board and the New Opportunities Fund The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service Board replaces the Fire Authority for Northern Ireland

• Part II The Northern Ireland Judicial Appointments Commission has been added.
