The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, being a Department designated [^f00001] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 [^f00002] in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community, makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by that section.

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as The European Fisheries Fund (Grants) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 and shall come into operation on 9th January 2009.

Amendment of the European Fisheries Fund (Grants) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008

In regulation 16(1) of the European Fisheries Fund (Grants) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008[^f00003] for sub-paragraph (a) there shall be substituted the following sub-paragraph—

(a) on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum, and

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations correct a drafting error in The European Fisheries Fund (Grants) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008. Those Regulations provide that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development may pay grants for the purposes of Title IV of Council Regulation (EC) 1198/2006 on the European Fisheries Fund.
