The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety makes the following regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 9(1), 9(2) and 9(3)(a) of the Health and Social Care (Reform) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009[^f00001]:

Number and area of Local Commissioning Groups

Functions of Local Commissioning Groups

Each Local Commissioning Group shall exercise the following functions with respect to the commissioning of health and social care for people in its area—

The Western Local Commissioning Group Derry, Fermanagh, Limavady, Omagh and Strabane

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These regulations prescribe the number of Local Commissioning Groups to be appointed by the Regional Health and Social Care Board established under the Health and Social Care (Reform) Act (Northern Ireland) 2009 (regulation 2(1)). They also prescribe the areas of the Local Commissioning Groups (regulation 2(2)) and the functions they will exercise with respect to the commissioning of health and social care (regulation 3).
