The Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(2) of the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006[^f00001].

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This is the fifth Commencement Order to be made under the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 (“the Order”). The Order extensively amends the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (“the Act”).

Article 2 brings into operation Article 8 (Rail vehicles: application of accessibility regulations); paragraph 21(a) and (b) of Schedule 1 (minor and consequential amendments) and Article 19(1) in so far as it relates to those entries; and the entries in Schedule 2 (repeals) in respect of sections 46 (3), (4), (6), (8), (9) and (10) of the Act and Article 19(2) in so far as it relates to those entries on 1st July 2011.
