Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations revoke the Smoke Control Areas (Exempted Fireplaces) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013 (S.R. 2013 No. 198), and subsequently re-instate the provisions.

In addition, a number of new classes of fireplace are declared exempt from the provisions of Article 17 of the Clean Air (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 (S.I. 1981/158 (N.I.4)). The list of all exempted fireplaces can be found in the Schedule to these Regulations.
