Coming into operation: 2nd June 2014

The Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 66(4) of that order, makes the following order—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

This Order may be cited as the Police and Criminal Evidence (1989 Order) (Codes of Practice) (Revision of Codes C and H) Order (Northern Ireland) 2014, and shall come into operation on 2nd June 2014.

Revision of Codes of Practice

The revised codes of practice C and H laid before the Assembly on 12th May 2014 shall come into operation on 2nd June 2014.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation on 2nd June 2014 revised codes of practice C and H issued under Article 65 of the Police and Criminal Evidence (Northern Ireland) Order 1989.

The amendments to Code C and Code H facilitate the transposition of EU Directive 2012/13 on the right to information in criminal proceedings.

The codes of practice are published by the Stationery Order and printed copies may be obtained from www.tsoshop.co.uk or through customer services, email: customer.service@tso.co.uk or phone 0870 600 5522. The revised codes of practice will also be available on the Department of Justice website.
