The Attorney General’s Human Rights Guidance (Cooperation and Operational Independence) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016

Coming into operation: 19th December 2016

The Attorney General, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(3)(c) of that Act, makes the following order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Attorney General’s Human Rights Guidance (Cooperation and Operational Independence) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on 19th December 2016.

• (2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to this Order as it applies to an Act of the Assembly[^f00004].

Coming into operation of the guidance

The guidance on international human rights standards relevant to cooperation and institutional independence in respect of the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland and Forensic Science Northern Ireland shall come into operation on the day on which this Order comes into operation.

This Order brings into operation guidance by the Attorney General for Northern Ireland, pursuant to section 8 of the Justice (Northern Ireland) Act 2004, which was laid before the Assembly on 5th October 2016.
