The Department for Infrastructure[^f00001] makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 20(3) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) order 1993[^f00002] and now vested in it[^f00003].

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as The Motorways Traffic (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020 and shall come into operation on 29th April 2020.

Amendment

The Motorways Traffic Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008[^f00004] are amended by the substitution for Schedule 1 of the Schedule set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order amends The Motorways Traffic Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 (“the Regulations”) by the substitution for Schedule 1 of the Schedule specified in the Schedule to these Regulations adding lengths of bus lane on the hard shoulder of the M1 Motorway at Sprucefield.

Any person who acts in contravention of the Regulations shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 4 on the standard scale (£2500). Traffic signs indicating the effect of the Regulations will in due course be placed on the road.
