The Female Genital Mutilation Protection Order (Relevant Third Party) Order (Northern Ireland) 2021

Coming into operation: 1st December 2021

The Department of Finance[^f00001], in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5A of, and paragraph 19(7) of Schedule 2 to the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003[^f00002], makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Female Genital Mutilation Protection Order (Relevant Third Party) Order (Northern Ireland) 2021.

• (2) This Order comes into operation on 1st December 2021.

Interpretation

In this Order “HSC trust” means a Health and Social Care trust established under Article 10 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1991[^f00003].

Specification of HSC trust as a relevant third party

A HSC trust is specified as a relevant third party for the purposes of paragraph 19(2)(b) of Schedule 2 to the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order specifies a Health and Social Care trust as a relevant third party under paragraph 19(2)(b) of Schedule 2 to the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003 (c.31).

A relevant third party can apply to the court for a Female Genital Mutilation protection order without the leave of the court.
