Coming into operation -: 3rd October 2022

The County Court Rules Committee makes and the Department of Justice, after consultation with the Lady Chief Justice, allows the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 47 of the County Courts (Northern Ireland) Order 1980[^f00001].

Citation and Commencement

These Rules may be cited as the County Court (Amendment) Rules (Northern Ireland) 2022 and shall come into operation on 3rd October 2022.

Amendments to the County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981

The County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981[^f00002] are amended as follows—

Saving

Nothing in these Rules shall affect any proceedings which are pending immediately before these Rules come into operation and the Rules in operation before that date shall continue to apply to those proceedings.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Rules)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Rules amend the County Court Rules (Northern Ireland) 1981 (S.R. 1981 No. 225) to take account of the increase in the small claims court jurisdiction from £3,000 to £5,000.
