The Energy Payment Support Scheme (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022
Made: 09th March 2022
Coming into operation: 10th March 2022
In accordance with section 1(4) of that Act, the Executive Office[^f00003] approves the making of these Regulations.
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Energy Payment Support Scheme (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 and shall come into operation on 10th March 2022.
Amendment to the Energy Payment Support Scheme Regulations

- (1) The Energy Payment Support Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022[^f00004] are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
- (2) After paragraph 5 of the Schedule (appeals) insert—
(5A) No account shall be taken of eligibility for an Energy Payment in considering a person’s entitlement to a payment under any of the following social security benefits: (a) income support; (b) jobseekers allowance; (c) employment and support allowance; (d) universal credit; or (e) state pension credit.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations provide for payments (“Energy Payments”) to be disregarded for social security benefit purposes.
Regulation 2 inserts a disregard provision into the Energy Payment Support Scheme (Northern Ireland) 2022 (S.R. 2022 No. 28).
This Scheme will apply to Northern Ireland only.
A regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for the Regulations as they have no impact on the costs of business.
