The Police Service of Northern Ireland (Amendment) Regulations 2023
Made: 4th April 2023
Coming into operation: 28th April 2023
In accordance with sections 25(8) and 26(6) of that Act the Department has consulted the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the Police Association for Northern Ireland before making these Regulations.
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Police Service of Northern Ireland (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and shall come into operation on 28th April 2023.
Amendment of the Police Service of Northern Ireland Regulations 2005

- (1) The Police Service of Northern Ireland Regulations 2005[^f00003] shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
- (2) In regulation 3(1) in paragraph (a) of the definition of “public holiday”, for 2023 only, after “first Monday in May” insert “, second Monday in May”.
Amendment of the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006

- (1) The Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006[^f00004] shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
- (2) In Schedule 1 in the definition of “public holiday”, for 2023 only, after “first Monday in May” insert “, second Monday in May”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations amend the Police Service of Northern Ireland Regulations 2005 and the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006 to allow for the additional public holiday on 8th May 2023, to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
