Coming into operation: 23rd October 2025

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs[^f00001], with the approval of the Department of Finance[^f00002], makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 5(2B), 6(1)(f) and 9 of the Agriculture Act (Northern Ireland) 1949[^f00003].

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Agricultural Schemes (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025 and shall come into operation on 23rd October 2025.

  • authorised person” means any person authorised by the Department to act under section 40(1) of the Agriculture Act (Northern Ireland) 1949 in matters relating to these Regulations;

Amendment of the Suckler Cow Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend

The Beef Carbon Reduction Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023;

The Suckler Cow Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025; and

The Horticulture Pilot Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025,

to amend the definition of authorised persons acting under section 40 of the Agriculture Act (Northern Ireland) 1949 and to remove the regulations relating to criminal offences and penalties.
