The Department for Communities makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14(7) of the Private Tenancies Act (Northern Ireland) 2022[^f00001]

Citation

This Order may be cited as the Private Tenancies (2022 Act) (Commencement No.2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2025.

Appointed Day

The day appointed for the coming into operation of the provisions of the Private Tenancies Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 specified in the Schedule is 1st April 2025.

SCHEDULE

Provisions of the Private Tenancies Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 coming into operation on 1st April 2025.

Provisions of the Act	Subject Matter
Section 7 for all other purposes in relation to Articles 5D and 5E of the Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) 2006	Regulation of rent, in particular, rent increases.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation certain provisions of section 7 of the Private Tenancies Act (Northern Ireland) 2022. These provisions relate to the regulation of rent, in particular, the restriction on the frequency of rent increases and, the requirement to give written notice of any increases.
