Coming into operation: 1st April 2025

In accordance with section 3(5) of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014, these Regulations are made with the consent of the Department of Finance.

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025 and come into operation on 1st April 2025.

Amendment of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014

(1) The Teachers’ Pension Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014[^f00002] are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).

(2) In regulation 185, in the table, for column 2 substitute—

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Teachers’ Pensions Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014 (S.R. 2014 No. 310) (“the 2014 Regulations”).

Regulation 2 makes changes to members’ contribution rates in the table in regulation 185 of the 2014 Regulations. As members’ contribution rates are “protected elements” of the scheme under section 22 of the Public Service Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2014, the Department of Education has laid a report before the Assembly explaining why changes have been made in the protected period (28th April 2014 to 31st March 2040).
