The Registered Rents (Increase) Order (Northern Ireland) 2025

Made: 25th March 2025

Coming into operation: 9th June 2025

The Department has accepted the recommendation of the rent officer made under Article 55(4) of that Order that the rents referred to in Article 55(1) of that Order should be increased.

Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Registered Rents (Increase) Order (Northern Ireland) 2025 and shall come into operation on 9th June 2025.

Increase of registered rents

• (1) Subject to paragraph (2) the rents registered under Part IV of the Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 during the period beginning on 2nd April 2007 and ending on 8th June 2025 shall be increased by 2.7 percent.

• (2) Paragraph (1) does not apply to a rent entered on the register of rents unless a certificate of fitness has been issued except where such a certificate is not required.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order increases the rents registered with the rent officer for Northern Ireland under Part IV of the Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 during the period beginning on 2nd April 2007 and ending on 8th June 2025 by 2.7 percent.

A landlord must give a tenant at least 4 weeks’ notice of the increase in accordance with Article 49 of the Private Tenancies (Northern Ireland) Order 2006.
