The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 6(3) and 15(6) and (7) of the Local Government Act 1988[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:

The Local Government Act 1988 (Competition) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1999[^f00003] are hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

The Local Government Act 1988 (Competition) (Scotland) Regulations 1997 (“the principal Regulations”) make provision as to the introduction in Scotland of compulsory competitive tendering (“CCT”) in respect of functional work falling within certain activities which are defined activities for the purposes of the Local Government Act 1988. These Regulations amend the principal Regulations so as to delay the introduction of CCT for a further period of 12 months, or 31st December 2001 if later.
