The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 19(3) of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975[^f00001], hereby make the following Order:

Commencement of section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975

Section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975[^f00002] shall come into force on 30th March 2007 in those areas of Scotland excepted from the bringing into force of section 16 by the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1981[^f00003].

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 into force in a number of areas of Scotland with effect from 30th March 2007. Section 16 provides that it is an offence for any person who is not registered to carry out farriery.

The Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1981 commenced section 16 of the Farriers (Registration) Act 1975 in Scotland with the exception of Highland Region, Western Isles Islands Area, Orkney Islands Area, Shetland Islands Area and all other islands, as those areas were constituted by section 1 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 (c. 65).
