The Special Restrictions on Adoptions from Haiti (Scotland) Order 2010

The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section62(3) of the Adoption and Children (Scotland) Act 2007[^f00001] and all other powers enabling them to do so.
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Special Restrictions on Adoptions from Haiti (Scotland) Order2010 and comes into force on 15th October 2010.
Declaration of special restrictions

Special restrictions[^f00002] apply in relation to the bringing of children into the United Kingdom from the Republic of Haiti in the cases mentioned in section62(2) of the Adoption and Children (Scotland) Act2007.

Explanatory note
(This note is not part of the Order)
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order applies the special restrictions which are set out in section64(1) of the Adoption and Children (Scotland) Act 2007 (“theAct”) in relation to the adoption of children from Haiti. As a result the Scottish Ministers will not be permitted to take any steps to further the bringing of children into the United Kingdom from Haiti for the purposes of adoption, unless they are satisfied that they should do so under section64(2) of the Act.
