Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1
In accordance with section 133(2C)(b) of that Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before and approved by resolution of the Scottish Parliament.
Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Independent Schools (Prescribed Person) (Coronavirus) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2020 and come into force on the day after the day on which they are made.

In regulation 3 of the Registration of Independent Schools (Prescribed Person) (Scotland) Regulations 2017[^f00003] (transitory provision), for “1st October 2020” substitute “1 June 2021”.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations amend regulation 3 of the Registration of Independent Schools (Prescribed Person) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 to provide that the requirement for a person employed as a teacher by an independent school on or before 1 October 2017 to register with the General Teaching Council for Scotland will take effect from 1 June 2021. The change made by these Regulations is necessary as a result of disruption caused by coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV-2)).
