Restrictions of betting on dog racecourses.

Section 7 of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 shall have effect as if—

• (a) in subsection (1)(a) thereof (which restricts the number of races on which betting may take place on any day on a dog racecourse) for the word " eight " there were substituted the word " ten "; and

• (b) in subsection (2)(a) (which imposes a like restriction in respect of any special betting day) for the word " eight " there were substituted the word " ten " and for the word " sixteen" there were substituted the word " twenty ".

Special betting days.

Section 2 of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries (Amendment) Act 1971 (which relates to the notification of special betting days) shall have effect as if—

• (i) in subsection (2) for the word " four " in each place where it occurs there were substituted the word " six "; and

• (ii) after subsection (2) there were inserted the following subsection—

(2A) (a) The Secretary of State may from time to time by order provide that subsection (2) above shall have effect with the substitution, for the references to six days, of references to such other number of days as may be specified in the order. (b) An order under this subsection shall be made by statutory instrument and shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of either House of Parliament.

Short title and citation.

This Act may be cited as the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries (Amendment) Act 1980 and the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Acts 1963 to 1971 and this Act may be cited together as the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Acts 1963 to 1980.
