Amendment of Protection of Animals Act.

(1) In section 1(1) of the Protection of Animals Act 1911 (offences of cruelty to animals), for the words from “shall be liable” onwards substitute “ shall be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale, or both ”.

(1) This Act may be cited as the Protection of Animals (Penalties) Act 1987.
