Certain regular servicemen not to be regarded as “members of the forces”

In section 59 of the Representation of the People Act 1983, in subsection (1) (meaning of “member of the forces”) in paragraph (b) (exclusion of members of reserve or auxiliary forces)—
- (a) after the word “include” there shall be inserted “(i)”; and
- (b) at the end there shall be added
or (ii) a member of the regular army whose terms of service are such that, except for the purpose of training, he is required to serve only in Northern Ireland
.
Short title and extent

- (1) This Act may be cited as the Representation of the People Act 1993.
- (2) This Act extends to Northern Ireland.
