Power of certain local authorities to take steps to minimise generation of household, commercial or industrial waste

After section 63 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 there is inserted—

(63A) (1) A relevant authority may do, or arrange for the doing of, or contribute towards the expenses of the doing of, anything which in its opinion is necessary or expedient for the purpose of minimising the quantities of controlled waste, or controlled waste of any description, generated in its area. (2) Where a relevant authority in England (“the first authority”) proposes to exercise any of its powers under subsection (1), it shall before doing so consult about the proposal every other relevant authority whose area includes all or part of the area of the first authority. (3) In this section “relevant authority” means a waste collection authority or a waste disposal authority.

Money

There shall be paid out of money provided by Parliament any increase attributable to any provision of this Act in the sums payable under any other enactment out of money so provided.
