The Police (Compensation) (Amendment) Regulations 1966

Whereas the Treasury has determined under section 60(2) of the Local Government Act 1958 that the Secretary of State is the appropriate Minister in relation to members of police forces:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said section 60(2) (as extended by Schedule 9 to, and read with section 58(4) of, the Police Act 1964), I hereby make the following Regulations:—

At the end of Regulation 37(1) of the Police (Compensation) Regulations 1965[^f00001] (which relates to the modification of those Regulations in the case of a chief constable who was serving as such on 1st July 1964) there shall be added the following words:—

unless, in his case, the provision made by this Regulation is less favourable than that otherwise made by these Regulations

These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Compensation) (Amendment) Regulations 1966 and shall come into operation on 30th June 1966.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Police (Compensation) Regulations 1965.

Regulation 37 of the Regulations of 1965 (in accordance with section 58(4) of the Police Act 1964) makes special provision applicable to chief constables who were serving as such on 1st July 1964. It is possible in particular cases for the application of Regulation 37 to be unfavourable to the chief constables concerned. These Regulations provide that in such cases Regulation 37 shall not apply.
